Tailsin by YAMAGIWA in Copenhagen "Stick n Sushi" in London

The first offshoot of the popular Copenhagen chain Sticks 'n' Sushi arrived in London this week. Here’s a first view from the opening including Yamagiwa's Tailsin suspending chandelier..

The new London restaurant based in Wimbledon is number ten in the chain but the first outside Denmark.

For those who visited Copenhagen you may recognise their pretty hot reputation. The combination of two Japanese kitchens – grilled yakitori sticks and the classic sushi – and the Scandinavian/Japanese interior design makes the place worth visiting. Also the informal and happening atmosphere created not at least by the staff makes their restaurant popular for going out with friends and families.

After winning the IDEA Award Basil with Flora, the lamp designed forSlamp, the Brazilian Zanini de Zanine has been nominated designer of the year for the launch of Maison&Objet Americas.

His overseas alliances, experimentation with new technologies and ability in blending craftsmanship and industrial design, always maintaining a style attributable to his origins, are the characteristics that have made the partnership with Slamp successful and Zanini de Zanine the ideal candidate to represent the values of an international exhibition like Maison&Objet, for the first time in Miami.

United by common and innovative research into materials, the Brazilian designer and Slamp have now revisited the exclusive Flora collection, presented for the first time in 2013, by giving it a new sheen with 60 Gold, Silver and Copper metallic petals and in the unusual floor version.

Year of MURANO

DEXPRESS will be providing a new design and style to our customers, the high classic and modern re-invention of lighting /home ware products / accessories in MURANO.

If you are not familiar with Murano glass, here is an excerpt from wikipedia:

"Murano glass is glass made on the Venetian island of Murano, which has specialized in fancy glasswares for centuries. Murano’s glassmakers led Europe for centuries, developing or refining many technologies including crystalline glassenamelled glass (smalto), glass with threads of gold (aventurine), multicoloured glass (millefiori), milk glass (lattimo), and imitation gemstones made of glass. Today, the artisans of Murano are still employing these centuries-old techniques, crafting everything from contemporary art glass and glass figurines to Murano glass chandeliers and wine stoppers, as well as tourist souvenirs.

Today, Murano is home to a vast number of factories and a few individual artists' studios making all manner of glass objects from mass marketed stemware to original sculpture. The Museo del Vetro (Glass Museum) in the Palazzo Giustinian houses displays on the history of glassmaking as well as glass samples ranging from Egyptian times through the present day.[1]

Almost anywhere you go in Italy you can find Murano glass, especially in Venice."

High culture of everything Murano. ARTE DI MURANO comprises of lighting, home ware, and wearable Murano glass.
